St.Ursula Student Art 2009 Classroom Projects

Kindergarten - “Sunflowers” acrylic painting, 18X24 inches. The students used sponges and brushes to paint the background, leaves and centers of the flowers. They hand printed the flower petals with their finger prints.
First grade – “Fingerprint Flowers” ink print, 10 X 13 inches. The students created sunny springtime flowers with inked fingerprints.

Second grade – “Winter Tree Silhouettes”, acrylic painting, 16 X 20 inches. The students took some time studying the intricate branching patterns of the trees in the winter. The sponge painted the background sky and individually hand painted the overlapping branches of the winter trees. A little snow was splattered on the branching patterns.
Third grade – “Pittsburgh Zoo”, acrylic painting, 12X16 inches. The students draw their favorite zoo animal going up the hillsides of the Pittsburgh Zoo. They then painted in the animals and the grass and walkways to complete the fun image of the zoo.

Fourth grade – “Flower Power”, glass vase, 4x12 inches round. The students selected glass blobs to create a small 6 petal flower that they glued onto the glass vase. The finished vase is a colorful collection of glass flowers complementing any real flower addition.

Fifth grade – “Signature Vase”, stoneware pottery, 8X14 inches round. The students hand carved their names and other decorative pictures into a wheel thrown stoneware vase donated by Mrs. Pontoriero. The vase will be glazed to enhance the names and artwork and will welcome a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Sixth grade – “The Last Supper”, colored pencil on board, 11X14 inches. The students sketched the last supper scene in a stained glass fashion and then colored in the apostles and Christ outlining everything in black to simulate a stained glass window. This will be a welcome addition to any kitchen or dining room.

Seventh grade – “Grace”, Stoneware Serving Tray, 12x24 inches. The students handmade the slab constructed tray. They pressed in the blessing of Grace and some wheat sprays as decoration. The tray was glazed in a floating blue stoneware glaze enhancing the pressed designs.

Eighth grade – “The Point”, acrylic painting, 12X16. The students, in celebration of Pittsburgh’s 250 birthdays, have drawn and painted one of the most famous Pittsburgh views.

Stepping Stones
Kindergarten – “Sunflowers”
First Grade – “At the Beach”

Art Teacher Project
“Shades of Nature”, 2 stoneware place settings, 2 cups, 2 bowls, 2 plates. The stoneware dishes are glazed in shades of grays, blues, browns and greens to create the rich place settings. The wheel thrown pottery is food safe, microwave and dishwasher compatible. $80.00
